Perfect timing to select new Labour Leader

What are the skills, knowledge and attributes needed by the next leader of the Labour Party?

A special ‘Leadership Election’ meeting in Bishop’s Castle on Monday 24th February aims to help Labour Party members and supporters with their choice.

Speaking at the event will be two recent Parliamentary candidates, Kuldip Sahota for the Ludlow constituency and Dr. Julia Buckley, Shrewsbury and Atcham constituency. Julia also stood in the European election last May. Joining them is Gareth Williams, special advisor to the Welsh Labour Government.

“This is a timely meeting being held on the first day that Labour members and registered supporters can cast their vote for Leader and Deputy Leader” said Gren Jackson, secretary of the Bishop’s Castle, Clun and Chirbury and Worthen Branch Labour Party.

He explained, “Membership has boomed by 20% in the past three months to more than 160 members and supporters. Everyone’s vote counts in this election. Our three experienced guest speakers will be giving their personal views on the characteristics of a great Labour leader.”

The meeting takes place in the Church Barn, Church Lane, Bishop’s Castle SY9 5FD on Monday 24th February starting at 7.30pm and is open to all Labour Party members and registered supporters.
