Over 3,000 people gathered in the middle of Wellington to protest against the night time closure of Telford A&E. Bringing together people from Shropshire, Mid Wales and the Black Country – organisations and individuals, and of course members of Bridgnorth and Highley Labour Party.
The atmosphere was friendly but also had a feeling of determination to fight these closures. A brass band led the march to Charlton School where there were a number of speakers including an official from Unison, Council leaders and a Gill George from Shropshire Defend Our NHS. There was a call for everyone who has not already done so to sign the online petition to stop PRH closures – and to join over 30,000 who have already signed.
This was a great turn out and I felt proud to be part of it.
Here’s the link to the petition, please take a few seconds to sign if you didn’t already https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/229602
